i-dle's Soyeon Returns With Solo Comeback After Five Years
Soyeon, leader of the K-pop girl group i-dle, is returning as a solo artist for the first time in about five years. Her agency, Cube Entertainment, announced on Aug. 19 that Soyeon will make her solo comeback in early September.
The release marks her first solo project since her debut mini-album "Windy," which came out in July 2021. It has been five years and two months since her last solo activity.
Soyeon has spent that stretch building a reputation as one of the most active producers among current K-pop idols. She has written and produced many of i-dle's biggest hits, including "TOMBOY," "Nxde," "Queencard," and "Fate." In 2024, she was promoted to full membership in the Korea Music Copyright Association. This year, i-dle was named to Forbes' "30 Under 30 Asia" list.
She has also been expanding her producer credits under a separate name. Working as icebluerabbit, Soyeon co-produced i-dle's digital single "Mono (Feat. skaiwater)," which was released in January. She previewed a solo track titled "ICE BLUE RABBIT" for the first time during "2026 i-dle WORLD TOUR [Syncopation]."
Her solo run is already underway on stage. On Aug. 18, Soyeon performed as a solo artist on EBS's music program "Space Gonggam." On Aug. 22, she is scheduled to appear at "Waterbomb Sokcho 2026," held in Sokcho, Gangwon Province. Attention now turns to what kind of music Soyeon will bring out on her own, away from the group.
