Rookie K-pop boy group TUNEXX is making its first comeback just six months after its debut, and the members say their visuals and physical presence are among the things they most want fans to notice. The group released its second mini-album, "BLUE MODE," and prepared for the return with workouts, dieting, and careful attention to facial expressions and choreography designed to play to their strengths.

TUNEXX recently sat down with Ten Asia for an interview marking the release of the mini-album.

The group's agency, IST Entertainment, has a track record of launching boy groups with a strong visual identity, including THE BOYZ. Asked whether they feel confident carrying on that lineage as rookies, the members answered with a confident yes.

"There are a lot of moves in this choreography that show off the members' visuals," said Inhu. "Some of them have a slightly sexy feel, so I think we can show a new side of ourselves." Sungjun pointed to the group's physical presence in addition to its visuals. "The members are on the taller side," he said. "If you watch our physicality and the choreography together with the visuals, I think it will look even better."

Because this is their first comeback just six months after debut, the group also focused on changing and improving their appearance and performance. Leader Donggyu said the members reviewed their debut activities to figure out what to improve. "We worked hard on training and dieting to show a better version of ourselves," he said.

The mood of the new album is "dandy sexy." Sungjun said he put extra work into his facial expressions and performance to bring the concept to life naturally. "The genre this time is dandy but also sexy, so I studied acting a lot to show it to fans well," he said. "I think the bridge is the part I can bring out best, so I focused on practicing that section. Please watch it closely."

The members described themselves as a group with momentum and determination. "We have visuals and physicality, but we also have the momentum to push something forward," Sungjun said. Donggyu added, "We're a team that brings that momentum to everything."

"BLUE MODE," released on Sep. 2, includes the title track of the same name along with "SYNC UP," "ANSWER" and "OVER X," for a total of four songs. With a more mature sound and look for their first comeback, the question now is whether TUNEXX can carry forward IST Entertainment's reputation for building visually distinct boy groups.
