AOA's Kim Seol-hyun Opens Up Home Life in New YouTube Vlog

Actress Kim Seol-hyun gave fans a glimpse behind the scenes of a quiet day at her parents' house, trading her on-screen polish for a bare-faced afternoon with family and her dog.

On Sept. 20, a new video was posted on her YouTube channel "Kim Seolhyun KIMSEOLHYUN," titled "Kim Seol-hyun's Big Dog Bath Mission (ft. healing at mom and dad's place)." The vlog follows her late-summer visit home, where she spends time with her parents and takes on the day's main event: bathing the family dog, Deongchi.

Now 10 years old, Deongchi makes quite an entrance on camera. The dog weighs 23 kilograms (about 51 pounds) and has a rich brown coat. He plays a little hard to get at first, only half-listening to Kim, then wanders over on his own for a kiss. Their easy chemistry sets the tone for the rest of the video.

Kim's family home, built 28 years ago, has a warmth of its own. Photos of her hang throughout the rooms. Floral curtains and well-worn furniture give the space a lived-in comfort that only time creates. Kim points to the tile floor in the living room with pride, noting that it was considered cutting-edge when the house was built. Deongchi flops onto the tile like a rice cake and settles in for a nap, adding to the cozy atmosphere.

The family moments feel just as familiar. Her father hovers nearby while she peels a Korean melon, quietly watching to make sure she does not cut her hand. The family gathers around the table and talks over the meal, keeping things low-key and affectionate.

At home, Kim is looser and more herself. After the melon, she scoops yogurt straight from the container with a rice spoon, scraping the lid clean without a second thought. A self described bookworm, she picks up a book between activities and stretches out to read.

The centerpiece of the day is the bath. Kim and her parents take Deongchi to a pet grooming facility, where she gently coaxes him through his fear of water. His water-resistant coat puts up a fight, but she and her parents work in sync to wash and dry him. Once he is soaked through and visibly smaller, she laughs and says he looks like a teacup puppy.

Back home, Kim polishes off a bowl of soy sauce egg rice in one sitting. "If I had to eat just one thing for the rest of my life, it would be eggs," she says, making her devotion to the ingredient clear.

The vlog is part of an ongoing effort on her YouTube channel, where Kim shares her interests and everyday life, including travel and reading, as a way to stay in touch with fans.

She also has a full slate of on-screen work ahead. Later this year, she appears in the Netflix series "Slowly, Intensely" (working title). She has special appearances lined up in the JTBC drama "Human x Gumiho" and the Disney+ series "Nam Ja."
