Actress Cho Yi-hyun is stepping into one of her toughest roles yet. She stars in the new Korean film "Final Interview," directed by Kim Jeong-hoon, playing a job seeker who maks it through a 5,000-to-1 selection process to reach the final round of a hiring process. The film opens in theaters Nov. 4.

"Final Interview" follows six finalists gathered in a single interview room. When each candidate discovers a mysterious envelope containing damaging secrets about the others, suspicion takes over and the room spirals into chaos.

Cho Yi-hyun plays Moon Hye-in, one of the six finalists competing for a single open position. On the surface, Moon Hye-in hangs back and watches. But when it counts, she moves faster than anyone else in the room. Even after spending a month in team discussions with the other candidates, she stays calm as the envelopes are opened, quietly watching each person's reaction before making her own call.

Cho Yi-hyun builds the character through small shifts. A glance across the table. A pause before an answer. Moon Hye-in does not wear her feelings openly, so the performance rests in her eyes and subtle changes of expression.

Cho Yi-hyun first drew wide attention with warm, approachable characters in the drama "Hospital Playlist" and the film "Ditto." She then showed a sharper, more anxious side as Nam-ra in "All of Us Are Dead." More recently, she has taken on period and fantasy projects including "The Matchmakers" and "Head Over Heels" (Gyeonu-wa Seonnyeo). "Final Interview" marks a sharp turn into contemporary thriller territory built around the pressure of job hunting.

"When I first read the script, it was a type of character I had never played before, and that was the biggest reason I wanted to take it on," Cho Yi-hyun said. "Teamwork mattered more than anything on this project. All of the actors rehearsed together over and over, and we had endless conversations with the director. That's how Moon Hye-in came together."

Director Kim Jeong-hoon praised her range. "She's bright and easy to be around, but she has a clear point of view, and she can carry anxiety inside that," he said. "She expresses emotion in a very steady way, and she has the ability to create subtle shifts in temperature within that stillness."

"Final Interview" also stars Kim Jae-won, Shin Seung-ho, Kang You-seok, Kwak Dong-yeon, and Bae Gang-hee. It opens Nov. 4.

The project arrives at a moment when Korean cinema continues to explore the pressures of modern work and class, turning the familiar grind of a job interview into something closer to a psychological thriller.
