JEON SOMI Shares Group-Buying Story in New September Vlog

Singer JEON SOMI got an unexpected lesson in group chat etiquette. She opened up about joining a group-buying chat room, only to be called out for asking a question.

The story came from a video uploaded on Oct. 19 to her YouTube channel, "IMOS." Titled "Jeon Somi's September VLOG, Showing It All After Wondering How Much of My Daily Life to Show" (Naui Ilsangeul Eodikkaji Boyeojwoya Doelkka Gominhadaga Da Boyeojuneun Jeon Somi 9wol VLOG), the video features JEON SOMI talked about joining a group buy she found on social media. In a group buy, many shoppers order items together through one seller.

To get the items she wanted, she joined an open chat room on KakaoTalk, South Korea's most widely used messaging app.

"It's a group chat with about 2,000 moms in it," she said. "It's crazy. You get 300 KakaoTalk messages in 30 minutes."

She also walked viewers through how the group buy worked, sounding happy with how it went.

"Luckily, my fingers are fast, so I bought everything I wanted," she said.

Things took a turn when she asked a question in the chat.

"I asked one question and got scolded," she said. "They told me, 'If you read the notices, you wouldn't be asking that question.'"

She defended herself. "But I read the notices," she said.

Then she explained the catch. "There are 20 notices," she said. "It says that if you read them several times, you'll see it. It's like when you're reading a book, flipping back a few pages, reading them again, and noticing something different. So I read them again."

The comment drew laughs. For a singer used to big stages, it was a small, relatable moment: shopping like everyone else, only to be told to go back and read the rules.
