Yoo Yeon-seok and Seo Hyun-jin Team Up Again After 10 Years
Actors Yoo Yeon-seok and Seo Hyun-jin are reuniting after 10 years. This time, they play a man and a woman who can't trust each other.
The two lead MBC's new drama "The Perfect Lie" (Raieo), which premieres on Oct. 30 at 9:50 p.m. KST. The show is a psychological thriller about two people who make different claims of the same memory.
Yoo plays Min Jun-ho, a man who claims to be telling the facts. Seo plays Kang Ji-seon, a woman who insists she is telling the truth.
The two come from very different backgrounds and grow close after a chance encounter. They develop feelings for each other and go on a first date. The next day, however, they are caught up in an incident neither of them saw coming.
Afterward, Min and Kang give completely opposite accounts of what happened. One of them is lying. As each insists their version is the truth, their relationship begins to change. The actors will portray the relationship's shift from early attraction to the suspicion and conflict that follow. Both characters claim to be innocent, so the roles demand a wide range of emotions, including anger and the frustration of being wrongly accused.
Much of the show depends on the two performances, as viewers are left wondering which character is telling the truth. Yoo and Seo will portray the conflict by defending their own version of events while reacting to what the other says. According to the production team, the two paid close attention to emotional expression and their chemistry during filming.
"The energy and focus that the two actors, Yoo Yeon-seok and Seo Hyun-jin, brought were truly amazing," the production team said.
"As many of you have said, 'The Perfect Lie' will be a powerhouse showcase of Yoo Yeon-seok and Seo Hyun-jin's acting," the team added. "We ask for lots of interest and support."
