Ha Hyunsang (하현상)

Ha Hyunsang occupies a measured but distinct space in Korean independent music as both a solo artist and a member of the band Hoppipolla, where he serves as vocalist and guitarist. His work is defined by a careful, unhurried sensibility — one that has built a following around sincerity of craft rather than commercial momentum.

Debut & Formation

Ha Hyunsang was born on September 14, 1998, and has developed a dual career that moves between his band work with Hoppipolla and an independent solo output. Within Hoppipolla, he contributes as both vocalist and guitarist, a pairing that reflects a musician whose relationship to songcraft is grounded in live performance as much as recording.

Music & Discography

His solo discography reached a significant marker with the announcement of his second full-length album, New Boat, confirmed for release on April 6, 2026 — arriving approximately three years after his previous full-length work. The album carries a thematic framework built around the idea of a new journey, a direction that, according to pre-release material, maintains the musical character his audience has come to expect while deliberately reaching toward a different atmosphere. The gap between records is notable in a landscape that rewards constant output; the deliberate pace suggests an artist more interested in the integrity of a statement than in maintaining release-cycle visibility.

Activities

Beyond his solo recordings, Ha Hyunsang's continued membership in Hoppipolla keeps him active within the band context, balancing the two strands of his career. The April 2026 comeback represents his most significant solo move in several years, and marks a return to the full-length format — a format that, for an artist of his profile, carries more weight than a single or EP release would.
