Huening Kai

Huening Kai — born Kai Kamal Huening on August 14, 2002 — is the American-born maknae (youngest member) of TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT), the Big Hit Music group that debuted in 2019 as HYBE's first act after BTS. Standing at 183 cm and holding American nationality, he is among the more distinctly international presences in a generation of K-pop acts that have increasingly recruited global talent, and his profile within TXT has grown steadily alongside the group's expanding discography.

Role within TOMORROW X TOGETHER

As the group's maknae, Huening Kai occupies a position that carries both performance expectations and a particular kind of fan attention in K-pop's group dynamics. At the showcase for TXT's eighth mini-album, '7TH YEAR: When the Wind Briefly Stopped in the Thicket', held at Korea University's Hwajeong Gymnasium in April 2026, he drew sustained notice from the audience — a visibility consistent with his standing as one of the group's more recognizable visual presences.

Contract Renewal and continued commitment

In early April 2026, all five TXT members renewed their contracts with HYBE, a development that the group marked in an understated but telling way. Huening Kai and fellow member Taehyun made an unscheduled appearance at an offline listening party for '7TH YEAR,' arriving to hear fan reactions to the new material directly. The gesture, unplanned and unprompted by any formal event schedule, was widely read as a signal of the members' investment in the group's direction as they entered a new contract period — their first album together under renewed terms.
