Hwayoung (화영)

Ryu Hwa Young made her public debut as a member of T-ara, the MBK Entertainment girl group that rose to prominence in South Korean pop during the early 2010s, where she served as lead rapper and sub-vocalist. Known professionally as Hwayoung, she has since built a separate identity as an actress and, as of 2026, has stepped into a new chapter of her personal life that has drawn considerable media attention.

From T-ara to Solo Pursuits

After her time as part of T-ara's lineup, Hwayoung extended her career into acting, developing a presence in Korean television and film. By 2026, however, K-Pop!t coverage noted that she had been on an acting hiatus of approximately three years, having stepped back from screen work as she navigated life outside of active entertainment schedules.

Marriage Announcement and Public Attention

In April 2026, Hwayoung announced her engagement to a businessman three years her senior, with the wedding date set for September 12th. The announcement was followed almost immediately by an active social media presence in which she documented her relationship openly — sharing photographs and videos from outings with her fiancé and receiving public attention for the affectionate nature of the posts. She stated that she had long hoped to meet someone like her father, and described the relationship in those terms publicly.

In the months leading up to the wedding, she shared a number of updates that circulated widely: a luxury engagement ring valued at over 10 million won, a subsequent gift of wedding shoes, and various other displays of her fiancé's generosity, including birthday jewelry and a high-end vehicle. Her mother-in-law also attracted attention after Hwayoung shared footage of receiving a continuous stream of 50,000 won bills as a gift. By June 2026, she and her fiancé were photographed together at a large supermarket, the low-key domestic outing drawing coverage given their evident closeness ahead of the September ceremony. She also expressed interest in appearing on a couple's variety show following the wedding.
