Jung Chaeyeon

Jung Chaeyeon built her public profile across two distinct tracks — idol group member and working actor — in a career that began with one of K-pop's most-watched survival competition outcomes. Born December 1, 1997, she is signed to MBK Entertainment as a member of girl group DIA and, as of 2026, has also joined talent agency BH Entertainment as part of that company's deliberate push into the idol-turned-actor space.

Debut & Formation

Chaeyeon first came to wide attention through *Produce 101*, Mnet's 2016 survival series that selected eleven trainees to form the temporary project group I.O.I. The format drew enormous viewership, and I.O.I's debut placed its members — Chaeyeon among them — in front of an audience far larger than most rookies encounter. That exposure gave her a recognizable platform before she settled into her primary group, DIA, under MBK Entertainment.

Activities

Running her idol career in parallel with screen work, Chaeyeon has pursued acting steadily enough to position herself as a crossover figure rather than a performer associated with a single lane. That trajectory drew the attention of BH Entertainment, one of South Korea's prominent actor-management agencies, which added her to a roster that by early 2026 also included former Wonder Girls member Ahn So-hee and GOT7's Park Jin-young. BH's stated rationale is practical: idol-turned-actors arrive with established fandoms that can be converted into revenue across fan meetings, merchandise, and overseas markets. Chaeyeon's signing, reported in early 2026 alongside Gugudan's Kim Se-jeong, reflects both her individual standing and a broader industry pattern of agencies treating the idol-to-actor crossover as a structured business model rather than an incidental career drift.
