Jungnam (정남)

A rapper and dancer best known as a member of the South Korean dance-pop group Turbo, Kim Jungnam has navigated a career marked by both the group's commercial heights and a difficult period of personal and financial setbacks that eventually led him away from the mainstream spotlight.

Membership in Turbo

Turbo emerged as one of South Korea's prominent dance-pop acts, and Jungnam served within the group as a rapper and dancer. The group's blend of high-energy choreography and hip-hop-inflected pop placed it within a generation of acts that helped define the sound of Korean popular music in the 1990s and beyond.

Life After the Group

Recent years brought considerable difficulty for Jungnam. Following his departure from Turbo, he became entangled in a fraud case involving approximately 200 million Korean won — a development that drew public attention and marked a sharp turn from his earlier profile as a performer. His current circumstances, as reported, reflect a striking duality: working at a scallop farm during the day while continuing to perform on stage at night, suggesting that music remains a constant even as the conditions surrounding it have changed substantially.
