The drummer of CNBLUE since the band's formation, Kang Minhyuk has built a profile that extends quietly but distinctly beyond his role behind the kit — into acting, writing, and a public presence that has followed the group through more than sixteen years of activity.
Formation and role in CNBLUE
CNBLUE debuted in South Korea in 2010 and established themselves as one of the more durable acts of their generation, with Kang Minhyuk serving as the group's drummer throughout. Born on June 28, 1991, he was among the younger members of the lineup, and his position as the band's percussionist placed him at the rhythmic foundation of a group whose identity was built around live instrumentation at a time when that was a relative rarity in the idol landscape.
Beyond the band
Where many idol-group instrumentalists remain defined almost entirely by their group work, Kang Minhyuk developed a secondary presence in acting and, less expectedly, in literary writing. His essay collection, published under the title *It's Not All Like That*, found a readership drawn to what was described as a warm perspective and honest writing. Four years after its initial release, a revised and expanded edition was announced for 2026, adding ten new stories alongside photographs taken by Kang Minhyuk himself — a detail that positions the book as a creative work rather than a promotional exercise.
Activities
By early 2026, Kang Minhyuk was balancing the revised book release with CNBLUE's world tour schedule, appearing on the radio program *Lee In-kwon's FunFun Today* during that period. His manner on the broadcast — described as witty and modest when fielding questions, including one about a reputation as the most handsome drummer in the country — reflected a low-key public persona that has coexisted with more than a decade and a half of consistent activity.
