MIN-HO (민호)

Known primarily as the main rapper and sub-vocalist of SHINee, Choi Minho has built a parallel profile as a television personality and actor alongside his group work, representing one of the more versatile careers to emerge from the first generation of major Korean boy bands.

Debut & Formation

Minho debuted with SHINee under SM Entertainment in 2008, joining a five-member lineup that helped define the polished, performance-driven sound that would become a template for subsequent Korean pop acts. Within the group, his role as main rapper positioned him at the rhythmic centre of SHINee's sonic identity, while his sub-vocalist contributions gave him range across the group's extensive discography.

Activities

Beyond his work with SHINee, Minho has maintained an active solo presence in both music and broadcast. In February 2026 he released a new Japanese single, extending the group's long-standing engagement with the Japanese market into individual territory. His solo output reflects a measured expansion of the work SHINee collectively built in Japan over the course of their career.

On the television side, Minho has appeared on the long-running Korean variety series *I Live Alone*, where a spring 2026 episode drew attention for personal reasons. Visiting his father's dormitory — his father is a K-League football coach — for the first time in eighteen years, Minho was visibly emotional on camera, a moment that offered audiences a candid window into a side of his life rarely addressed in his public persona. A subsequent segment featuring a competitive shooting match between father and son pointed to the athletic background that has informed his reputation for physicality and drive, qualities consistent with his self-identified ENTJ disposition.

Members

Minho is also currently a member of COMMA (콤마), a group separate from SHINee, though details of that project's lineup and activities remain limited in available material.
