Minho (민호)

Choi Minho has spent the better part of two decades as one of K-pop's more quietly durable figures — the main rapper and sub-vocalist of SM Entertainment's SHINee, a group that shaped the sound and visual language of the generation that followed the genre's first international wave. Within that ensemble, Minho carved out a dual presence in music and on screen, extending his work well beyond the group's stage as a solo recording artist and actor.

Debut and role in SHINee

SHINee's formation gave Minho a platform from which he built a reputation as a performer with both competitive drive and screen-ready presence. His positions within the group — main rapper, sub-vocalist, and visual — reflect a balance between technical contribution and image work that has defined his place in the lineup across the group's run.

Solo music and acting work

Outside of SHINee's collective output, Minho released the extended play Chase in 2022, marking a defined solo step in his recording career. On screen, he appeared in the historical television series *Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth*, which placed him before an audience beyond the group's fanbase and reinforced the acting side of a career that has always carried both dimensions.

A Japanese single released in February 2025 signaled continued activity in that market, a territory where SHINee has long maintained a presence.

Beyond the studio

Minho's off-stage life has surfaced in his media appearances in ways that add texture to his public profile. An appearance on the variety program *I Live Alone* in early 2026 brought an unusually candid moment, when he visited the dormitory of his father — a K-League football coach — for the first time in eighteen years and was visibly moved by the experience. The episode also highlighted a competitive dynamic between father and son that speaks to a streak of athletic intensity that has followed Minho throughout his public life. Separately, SHINee member Taeyeon's appearance on a soccer-related segment drew on Minho as a willing tutor, a detail that fits a long-standing association with sport in his personal interests.
