Choi Chan Hee, known by the stage name New, has built his reputation as the main vocalist of THE BOYZ, the Cre.ker Entertainment boy group that has carved out a sustained presence in the crowded post-2017 K-pop landscape. Within that group's expansive lineup, his voice has been a consistent anchor — a role that has extended into special unit work and, as of early 2026, into musical theater.
Within THE BOYZ
New is a current member of THE BOYZ, where he holds the position of main vocalist. His role has carried through into unit projects: he served as main vocalist and maknae in IT'S ONE, the unit formed for the survival competition program *Kingdom*, and has continued in main vocalist roles for the group's subunits Goodbye and Rat In The Trap.
Expanding into Musical Theater
In February 2026, New was cast in a production of *Romeo and Juliet*, marking his first foray into musical theater since debuting with THE BOYZ. The role represents a meaningful step beyond the group context, inviting attention to his vocal capabilities in a live stage format that demands a different set of technical and dramatic skills than idol performance typically requires.
