Bae Jin-young arrived on the Korean pop landscape through one of the industry's most scrutinized debut mechanisms: Mnet's *Produce 101* Season 2, the 2017 survival competition that assembled its eleven finalists into Wanna One. He debuted with the group on August 7, 2017, and went on to become one of its most recognized faces — a standing reaffirmed nearly a decade later when he took the center position in Wanna One's *Elle D Edition* cover shoot ahead of the group's 2026 reunion project.

From *Produce 101* to Wanna One

Wanna One was formed as a fixed-term project group, and Bae Jin-young's participation in it marked his formal entry into the industry. The group's debut placed him among eleven members navigating an unusually compressed timeline of promotions, and the experience cemented connections that have proved durable — among them a friendship with fellow *Produce 101* Season 2 participant Yoon Jae-chan that the two have publicly maintained across roughly ten years.

After Wanna One: CIX and Solo Activity

Following Wanna One's scheduled conclusion, Bae Jin-young became a member of CIX, a boy group that debuted in 2019 under C9 Entertainment. He remained with the group until his departure, which preceded CIX's disbandment by approximately two years — the group ultimately concluding its run around 2026. His time with CIX extended his career beyond the project-group framework of Wanna One and into a longer-form group environment.

Reunion and Recent Visibility

In 2026, Wanna One drew renewed public attention through *Wanna One Go: Back to Base*, a reunion reality project marking the group's first gathering in roughly seven years. Coverage of the project noted Bae Jin-young's prominent placement in associated editorial shoots, including the center spot in the *Elle D Edition* group pictorial — a position that drew comment given the competitive visual profile of the full eleven-member lineup. The reunion content generated measurable fan response, with behind-the-scenes footage highlighting, among other moments, an impromptu fashion comparison between Bae Jin-young and fellow member Park Ji-hoon.
