Onew (온유)

As the leader and main vocalist of SHINee, Lee Jin-ki — known professionally as Onew — has anchored one of K-pop's most enduring groups since the late 2000s while steadily building a solo body of work marked by what his label and peers consistently point to as an unusually warm, controlled tenor. His 2022 extended play *DICE* represents the clearest distillation of his solo identity to date, and his 2026 album *Tough Love* marks the latest chapter in a career that has moved across music, television, and the stage with quiet persistence.

Debut & Formation

Onew became the leader of SHINee at debut, a role that carried both vocal and representative weight within the group's structure. As main vocalist, his voice became one of the group's most recognizable sonic signatures, a quality that would later define his solo releases as much as his group output.

Music & Discography

His solo discography spans several distinct releases. The album *Voice* established his presence as a solo act, while *Percent* developed that foundation further. The 2022 extended play *DICE* — with its title track of the same name serving as one of his representative solo works — brought sharper pop production into contact with his vocal style, demonstrating the range he had developed across years of group activity. His 2026 album *Tough Love* continues that trajectory, arriving alongside a period of active live performance.

The track "One Year Later," a collaborative vocal piece, has also featured in his discography, pointing to a willingness to work outside the boundaries of standard solo releases.

Activities

In early 2026, Onew concluded the encore run of his solo concert series ONEW THE LIVE, during which he performed an unreleased new song publicly for the first time. The moment was noted in coverage as a direct gesture toward his audience — a preview of material ahead of any formal release. His activity across the concert cycle underscored a consistent pattern in his post-military solo career: deliberate, performance-centered rollouts rather than high-volume release schedules.

Alongside his music work, Onew has maintained a presence as a television actor, broadening his profile beyond the stage across multiple years of activity.

Legacy

Within SHINee's hierarchy, Onew's role as both leader and the group's primary vocal anchor has given him a specific gravity that carries into his solo work. His solo output reflects a measured artistic identity — one built around vocal craft and a relatively selective release pattern — that has earned him a sustained audience well into the mid-2020s.
