A member of the ballad quartet 2AM, Lim Seul-ong — known by his stage name Seulong — built his reputation as one of JYP Entertainment's most distinctive vocal presences, a career that has since expanded into acting and continues under the Big Hit Music umbrella.
Debut and Formation
2AM emerged from JYP Entertainment as one half of a two-unit concept that also produced 2PM, the two groups positioned at opposite ends of the performance spectrum — 2AM as the ballad-focused outfit, 2PM as the high-energy dance act. The scope of that strategy, it turns out, ran wider than most fans understood. In March 2026, Seulong appeared on the YouTube channel hosted by Super Junior's Donghae and Eunhyuk and revealed that both 2AM and 2PM were originally conceived as a direct counter to Super Junior's dominance. According to Seulong, JYP had devised a plan to answer Super Junior by debuting the two units separately before eventually merging them — a disclosure that reframed the origin of both groups in a notably competitive industry context.
Activities
Beyond his work with 2AM, Seulong has pursued a parallel career as an actor, making him one of the more versatile figures to emerge from the JYP idol system of the late 2000s. His label journey has taken him from JYP Entertainment to Big Hit Music, a trajectory shared with other 2AM members as the group's affiliations evolved over time.
