Seungyeon (승연)

Han Seung-yeon — known by her stage name Seungyeon — built her place in K-pop as the main vocalist of KARA (카라), the DSP Media girl group whose run through the late 2000s and early 2010s helped establish Korean pop's foothold in Japan and across East Asia. Her profile as both a singer and actress has kept her active well beyond KARA's initial peak, and her influence has reached unexpectedly far: TXT's Soobin revealed in 2026 that Han Seung-yeon was the reason he originally sought to join HYBE, having been drawn to her work during his trainee years.

Roots in KARA

KARA debuted under DSP Media and went on to become one of the most commercially significant Korean girl groups of their generation in the Japanese market, charting on the Oricon and cultivating a fanbase that outlasted several lineup changes and hiatuses. Han Seung-yeon served as the group's main vocalist across that run, and her continued membership — alongside her parallel work as an actress — has made her one of the group's most consistently present figures. She also holds membership in DSP Friends, a collective associated with the label.

Activities Beyond the Group

Alongside her work with KARA, Han Seung-yeon has maintained a career as an actress, extending her presence beyond the recording studio into Korean television and film. Her social media activity has periodically drawn attention from fans — a post on the final day of a recent holiday period, in which she used the phrase "deeply resentful," generated wide speculation and engagement online, reflecting the attentive following she retains.

The 2026 disclosure by Soobin of TXT — shared during an appearance on her YouTube channel *Halmyungsoo* — offered an unusually candid illustration of her standing within the industry. That a current-generation idol of Soobin's profile would cite her as a formative influence speaks to the generational reach her work with KARA achieved.
