Kim Tae-rae came to wider public attention through BOYS PLANET, Mnet's 2023 survival competition, where he finished sixth in the final vote and secured his place in the debut lineup of ZEROBASEONE. That result set the trajectory of his early career, moving him from contestant to a member of one of the more closely watched boy group launches to come out of the program.
Debut & Formation
BOYS PLANET served as the selection mechanism for ZEROBASEONE, with contestants competing across months of live broadcasts before a final ranking determined the nine-member group. Finishing sixth placed Kim Tae-rae comfortably within that lineup, and the group went on to debut under WAKEONE, a CJ-affiliated management company.
Activities
Following the conclusion of his initial contract cycle, Kim Tae-rae renewed with WAKEONE, a move that signaled continued investment in the group's next phase. In early 2026, he joined fellow ZEROBASEONE members Seok Matthew and Park Gun-wook in contributing to an OST for a tvN variety production, one of the group's activities in that period. He also remains a member of TEMPEST, the boy group with which he holds a separate affiliation.
