Wheein (휘인)

Within MAMAMOO, one of South Korea's most vocally driven girl groups, Wheein has carved a distinct identity as the act's principal dancer and a vocalist whose expressive range complements the group's retro-influenced sound. Known offstage as Jung Whee-in, she has moved through a significant contractual transition since MAMAMOO's early years under RBW, and in 2026 returned to the full group fold for a long-awaited comeback.

Debut and Group Role

Wheein debuted as a member of MAMAMOO under RBW, a group that distinguished itself in the mid-2010s K-pop landscape through live vocal performance and a jazz- and soul-inflected sound at a time when the genre was dominated by more electronic production. Within the four-member lineup, she holds the roles of main dancer and vocalist — a combination that positioned her as the group's primary physical performer while contributing meaningfully to its harmonic arrangements.

Her contract with RBW concluded in 2021, at which point she signed with The Live LABEL, a move that placed her on an independent trajectory for solo activities while she continued her association with MAMAMOO as a group. Her contract with The Live LABEL ran until August 2024.

Return to MAMAMOO

In 2026, MAMAMOO announced a full group comeback for the first time in four years, centered on the '4WARD' world tour. Individual teasers released ahead of the announcement featured Wheein alongside fellow member Hwasa, with both drawing considerable attention for their visual presentation — restrained, precisely styled images that signaled a more mature aesthetic direction for the group. The teasers generated strong fan response and renewed public interest in MAMAMOO as a collective unit, marking the reunion as a notable moment in the group's ongoing timeline.

Activities Beyond the Group

Outside of MAMAMOO's group schedule, Wheein has engaged in solo and collaborative activities. In early 2026, she appeared on the program 'Change', performing a special busking show abroad alongside actor Jung Ji-so — a cross-industry appearance that reflected the kind of public-facing, informal performance work she has taken on during periods between major group releases.
