Yongjun (용준)

Kim Yongjun has built his reputation as the leader and a core vocalist of SG Wannabe, the South Korean ballad trio whose warm, harmony-driven sound made them a staple of the mid-2000s Korean pop landscape. Within the group, his voice anchors a catalog that has remained in circulation long enough to sustain a dedicated concert audience well into the 2020s.

Debut & Formation

Yongjun leads SG Wannabe, a trio that rose to prominence in the mid-2000s on the strength of polished, melody-forward ballads at a time when that genre commanded significant commercial weight in Korea. The group's output spoke directly to listeners drawn to vocal craft over production spectacle, and that identity has proven durable across more than two decades of activity.

Music & Discography

Among the works that have kept SG Wannabe's name in circulation is "Must Have Love," a collaboration with Brown Eyed Girls' Ga-in that became a recurring presence on seasonal playlists, particularly in winter. The track's longevity is a marker of how the group's material has aged — it surfaces regularly enough that the story behind it, including an anecdote about past dating rumors between Yongjun and Ga-in, was treated as worthy programming material for the television program *20th Century Hit Song* as recently as 2026.

Activities

Beyond the group, Yongjun has maintained a parallel solo presence. In May 2026, he staged a small-theater concert titled "Spring, Steps", filling 120 minutes with a setlist that moved across solo material, SG Wannabe catalogue, and cover performances. The format — intimate, broad in repertoire, built around direct engagement with a core fanbase — reflects the kind of sustained, lower-volume career activity that tends to define long-tenured Korean ballad artists after their peak commercial period.
