When Highhat Entertainment's six-member girl group ifeye released their debut digital mini-album "ERLU BLUE" on April 8, 2025, they entered one of K-pop's most crowded fields — the fifth-generation girl group landscape — with a sound built around an innocent, dreamy aesthetic that the group has described as their defining visual and musical identity. A year on, a slot on NME's 2026 Essential Emerging Artists 100 and an openly declared ambition to reach the Billboard charts suggest the group is being taken seriously beyond their domestic debut.

Debut and early activity

Formed in 2025 under Highhat Entertainment, ifeye (Korean: 이프아이) comprises six members — Kasia, Meu, Rahee, Sasha, Taerin, and Won Hwayeon — who collectively draw a fanbase known as ifory. Their debut mini-album set the template for what the group would develop over their first year: a clean, translucent image paired with pop production that the members and their agency have worked to push in a more mature direction with each subsequent release.

The group marked the close of their first year with a fan meeting in early April 2026, a gathering that doubled as a preview occasion for the then-upcoming third EP, giving ifory an early look at the direction of the next chapter before the wider public.

Music and discography

ifeye's third mini-album, "As if", released April 15, 2026 — their first project in eight months — represents the most deliberate creative shift of their short career. The five-track EP is led by the title track "Hazy (Daisy)", which the group previewed in a highlight medley that drew attention for what was described as an addictive melody and a distinctive chorus. The album was conceived in two visual concepts, Daisy and Hazy, each designed to reflect different dimensions of the group's "innocent yet dreamy" identity.

The production process behind "As if" was unusually collaborative for a group at this stage. Highhat brought in Lim Soo-ho, the producer credited on IU's "Lilac", and the members have said publicly that their own input was incorporated into the album to a degree they found meaningful — a point of evident pride when speaking about the project. The group framed the experience as a period of genuine artistic growth, describing the exchange of opinions with Lim as central to how the album took shape.

The eight-month gap before "As if" was the result of a deliberate reset at the agency level. Highhat replaced the entire production team and made internal personnel changes ahead of the comeback, a significant structural move for a group still in their debut year. The period also coincided with a health-related hiatus for member Sasha, who serves as the group's main vocalist. The remaining five members continued preparations during her absence, later acknowledging the difficulty of reworking a six-member formation down to five before she was able to return.

International recognition

ifeye's selection for NME's 2026 Essential Emerging Artists 100 was the most concrete piece of international validation the group had received at the time of their first anniversary, and the members responded to it in terms that suggested it had not been anticipated. Their stated reaction — that being named in a prominent UK music publication felt unexpected — underscores how early-stage their international profile remains, even as they have set Billboard chart entry as an explicit goal.

That international orientation had already surfaced in their activity schedule. During the hiatus between their second and third releases, the group maintained visibility through global fan signing events and overseas concerts, including a performance in Taipei that drew a strong fan response. Those appearances helped sustain a presence in markets outside South Korea while the domestic release schedule was paused.

Standing

Twelve months into their career, ifeye sit at an early but not uneventful juncture. The structural overhaul ahead of their third EP — new production team, a credited collaborator with a significant industry track record, and a stated ambition toward major Western chart presence — points to an agency recalibrating after a first year that generated international notice without yet producing a domestic breakout. Whether "Hazy (Daisy)" and the "As if" EP translate that recalibration into measurable chart performance remains the open question as the group moves into their second year.
