When SeeYa released "Will You Marry Me" in 2007 and "Crazy Love Song" around the same period, the group established itself as one of the defining vocal acts of South Korean pop in the mid-to-late 2000s — a trio whose harmonies and ballad-driven sound endured well past their 2011 disbandment. Nearly fifteen years after going their separate ways, the group reunited in 2026 to mark their 20th debut anniversary, releasing new music and founding their own entertainment company to make the comeback possible.

Debut and formation

SeeYa (씨야) debuted on February 24, 2006, as a three-member female group under what would become MBK Entertainment, with a line-up of Nam Gyu-ri, Kim Yeon-ji, and Lee Bo-ram. Their debut album, *The First Mind*, introduced a sound rooted in polished pop and R&B that set the group apart from the idol acts dominating the era. Within a year, the 2007 release *Lovely Sweet Heart* produced the song "Will You Marry Me," which became closely identified with the group's peak commercial moment and remained recognizable enough that Lee Bo-ram recorded a solo remake of it in April 2026 as part of the groundwork for a full group comeback.

Music and discography

Across five years of activity, SeeYa released four studio albums — *The First Mind* (2006), *Lovely Sweet Heart* (2007), *California Dream* (2008), and *Brilliant Change* (2009) — as well as the 2009 extended play *Rebloom* and the single "Female Generation/Forever Love," the latter standing as one of the group's representative works. The 2011 album *See You Again* arrived close to the group's disbandment. "Crazy Love Song" proved durable enough that in February 2026, singer Huh Gak released a reinterpretation of it following sustained fan demand, demonstrating the track's continued resonance more than fifteen years after its release.

The group officially disbanded on January 30, 2011. Efforts at reunion surfaced earlier — members later disclosed on the television program *Newsroom* that a planned 2020 reunion fell through — but it was the 20th debut anniversary in 2026 that finally brought the group back together publicly. When the reunion was announced, a fan-organized advertisement celebrating the milestone moved the members to tears at the reveal.

Return after fifteen years

SeeYa's 2026 comeback was notable for the lengths the members took to make it happen. After previous reunion attempts failed, Nam Gyu-ri, Kim Yeon-ji, and Lee Bo-ram established their own entertainment company specifically to facilitate the return — a practical measure that gave the group direct control over the process. On March 30, 2026, they released "Nevertheless, We," a new song whose lyrics all three members helped write, with the group describing the recording as emotional. A full album followed in May 2026, their first in fifteen years, accompanied by pre-orders and a dance practice video that signaled a more complete promotional rollout than a one-off single release.

The members spoke candidly during the comeback period about the difficulties of their original run. Lee Bo-ram described conditions at their former agency that included delayed payments, meals of instant noodles and cereal at their dormitory, and an incident in which they were removed from a restaurant due to insufficient funds. These disclosures, made across multiple broadcast appearances, gave context to why reuniting had taken as long as it did.

Members

  • Nam Gyu-ri — group leader; has also maintained a career as an actress during the years between SeeYa's disbandment and reunion.
  • Kim Yeon-ji — vocalist; has remained active in trot music, placing in a 2026 popularity poll for female trot singers alongside Kim Eui-young and Song Ga-in.
  • Lee Bo-ram — vocalist; held a solo concert in Busan in May 2026 and released the "Will You Marry Me" remake ahead of the group's full comeback.

Activities beyond the group

In the period surrounding the 2026 reunion, the members appeared across several South Korean broadcast and digital platforms. Nam Gyu-ri discussed the reunion process on her YouTube channel "Gyulmeong" and appeared on SBS's *My Little Old Boy*. The full group appeared on *Heo Young-man's Baekban Journey*, a food-travel program, and on *Newsroom*, where they addressed the history of failed reunion attempts, including a candid account of the tension surrounding a prior appearance on *Sugar Man*. Lee Bo-ram and Super Junior's Eunhyuk also addressed longstanding dating rumors — originating from the 2007 Dream Concert — on a YouTube program, with both parties denying the speculation directly.
