Tomorrow X Together — known widely by the initialism TXT — arrived in March 2019 as the first group launched by Big Hit Music in the years following BTS's global rise, a debut that placed them under immediate and considerable scrutiny. Rather than soften that context, the group leaned into it, building a body of work that drew a consistent through-line between adolescent uncertainty and sonic restlessness, from the wistful pop of their early releases to the harder-edged alternative and rock-inflected territory they explored as their catalog deepened.

Debut and early formation

TXT debuted on March 4, 2019, with the extended play The Dream Chapter: Star, introducing a five-member lineup — Yeonjun, Soobin, Beomgyu, Taehyun, and Hueningkai — under the Big Hit Music and Republic Records labels. The EP established the thematic framework the group would sustain across subsequent releases: a coming-of-age narrative built around the turbulence of youth, rendered in polished but emotionally direct pop production. Their debut single "Crown" became an early signature, presenting the contradictions of adolescence as something simultaneously painful and freeing.

The year 2019 moved quickly. A second project, The Dream Chapter: Magic, followed later that same year, extending the Dream Chapter arc and demonstrating a range that moved between bright, hooky pop and something more textured beneath the surface. The Seoul Music Award for Rookie of the Year arrived in recognition of that opening stretch, and the pace of their output — two full projects in their debut year alone — signaled an ambition that the group would carry forward.

Music and discography

The Dream Chapter trilogy gave way in 2020 to a period of deliberate tonal expansion. The Dream Chapter: Eternity and minisode1: Blue Hour continued to develop the group's emotional vocabulary, with "Blue Hour" emerging as one of their more enduring tracks — a contemplative, warmly produced piece that balanced dreamlike texture with genuine pop instinct.

The transition into the Chaos Chapter era in 2021 marked a more explicit shift in register. The Chaos Chapter: Freeze and its companion The Chaos Chapter: Fight or Escape pushed further into alternative and rock-adjacent territory, reflecting the group's interest in matching lyrical themes of confusion and defiance with sonics that felt less frictionless. This period also produced international releases — Chaotic Wonderland served as an English-language companion project — indicating a deliberate effort to expand their reach beyond Korean-language markets.

2022's Minisode 2: Thursday's Child and its lead single "Good Boy Gone Bad" became one of the group's most discussed moments, presenting a sound that was noticeably more abrasive and direct than their earlier work. The track and its accompanying visual treatment registered as a kind of thesis statement for the group's maturation — still rooted in adolescent emotional experience, but processed through a harder, more angular lens.

The Name Chapter sequence — encompassing The Name Chapter: Temptation and The Name Chapter: Freefall — continued this arc, while 2023 also brought SWEET and the single "Sugar Rush Ride," which demonstrated the group's ongoing capacity to occupy a space between accessible pop hooks and more unsettled undercurrents. Minisode 3: Tomorrow arrived in 2024, marking the continuation of the minisode series that had, across multiple installments, functioned as a kind of reflective counterpoint to the group's larger-scale album projects.

Members

TXT comprises five members: Soobin, who serves as the group's leader; Yeonjun; Beomgyu; Taehyun; and Hueningkai. The group has operated as a consistent five-member unit since its debut with no lineup changes.

Achievements

TXT received the Seoul Music Award for Rookie of the Year following their 2019 debut, a recognition that acknowledged the impact of their first year of activity. Their catalog's international dimension — releases distributed through Republic Records alongside Big Hit Music, and English-language projects targeting global audiences — reflects commercial positioning that has expanded over the course of their career. The group marked their seventh anniversary in February 2026, commemorating the occasion with a special retrospective diary for their fanbase, known as MOA (Moments of Alwaysness).

Standing and significance

What distinguishes TXT within the broader landscape of fourth-generation K-pop groups is the sustained coherence of their conceptual approach. Across more than a dozen releases in under a decade, the group has maintained a recognizable thematic identity — youth, dislocation, the emotional volatility of growing up — while allowing their sonic palette to shift and harden in ways that have kept the catalog from feeling static. Their willingness to introduce rock and alternative elements into the K-pop framework, particularly during the Chaos Chapter period, drew attention from listeners and critics outside the conventional K-pop audience. At seven years into their career, TXT occupy a position as one of BigHit Music's primary acts, with a discography substantial enough to trace a genuine artistic arc.
