Producer Na Young-suk is reuniting three of his most familiar faces for a new variety show, but the lineup is missing the actor most fans associate with his work. Park Seo-jun, Jung Yu-mi and Choi Woo-shik, who last appeared together on the tvN travel-and-cooking show "Jinny's Kitchen" (Seojinine), are returning for Na's next project. Lee Seo-jin, often called Na's on-screen "persona," is not part of the cast.

tvN confirmed the casting on April. 29, saying Park, Jung and Choi had signed on for Na's new variety show and that further details had not yet been decided. The three actors have shared the screen multiple times in Na's productions, including the "Youn's Kitchen" series, "Youn's Stay" and the "Jinny's Kitchen" series. Lee, the cast member who usually held the center in those shows, sat this one out, prompting viewers to describe the new lineup as "the Jinny's Kitchen team without Lee Seo-jin."

Some viewers worry the show will feel off balance without him. Online reactions called the new cast "a steamed bun with no red bean filling" and said it felt like the main lead was missing. Across "Jinny's Kitchen" and other Na projects, Lee tended to set the tone, keep the pace and smooth out the dynamic between cast members. He stayed in the background with younger co-stars while still anchoring the mood, and viewers say that role is hard to replace.

Other viewers see the change as an opportunity. The three actors have worked together across both dramas and variety shows and are reported to be close off-camera. Without Lee in the lead role, the argument goes, the bond and individual personalities of Park, Jung and Choi can come through more clearly. In earlier series, Lee naturally steered the tone of the show. This time, the three can share that center themselves and build a new chemistry. Paired with Na's observational style of variety, some expect the show to land with a different kind of humor than his earlier hits. Comments online called the trio "a combination that's already proven" and said they were curious about "the new chemistry only these three can show."

Lee's history with Na goes back to 2012, when he appeared on a "best friends" special of the KBS 2TV variety show "2 Days & 1 Night" Season 1. Singer Lee Seung-gi, then a cast member, introduced Lee as a close older friend, which led to Lee's first appearance in a Na production. The show gave Lee the nickname "Art School Hyung" and established him as a strong variety personality.

After Na moved to CJ ENM, Lee joined the tvN travel series "Grandpas Over Flowers" (Kkotboda Halbae) and became a fixture in what fans now call the "Na Young-suk camp." He went on to appear in the "Three Meals a Day" series, "Lee Seo-jin's New York, New York," the "Youn's Kitchen" series, "Youn's Stay," "Unexpected Journey" and the "Jinny's Kitchen" series, working with Na across nearly all of his major variety projects.

That long history is why the conversation around the new show shifted quickly from who is in the cast to why Lee is not. "It shows just how much weight Lee Seo-jin has carried in Na Young-suk's variety shows," said one industry source. "That's why this casting change is drawing so much attention."

The question now is what Lee's absence will mean for the new show, and whether Park, Jung and Choi can hold viewers' attention as a different kind of trio under Na's direction.
