Kim Ha-neul to Join 30th BIFAN for 'Ditto' Special Screening and GV
Actress Kim Ha-neul is set to revisit one of her early career hits at this year's Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival. The star will join a guest visit event for the 2000 romance film "Ditto" on July 4 at 1 p.m. KST at Megabox Bucheon Starfield City, Theater 1.
The screening is part of the 30th edition of the festival, better known as BIFAN, one of South Korea's largest genre film events. It runs from July 2 through July 12 across the city of Bucheon.
"Ditto" is a coming-of-age romance that has held a steady place in Korean pop culture for more than two decades. The film follows two young people living in different eras who begin to connect through a ham radio, slowly building a bond across time. Kim Ha-neul played Yoon So-eun, a college student living in 1979. Her portrayal of youthful longing and quiet emotion helped make the film a favorite among Korean audiences.
The GV, short for "guest visit," is a Korean film festival format where an actor or director joins the audience after a screening for a live conversation. Kim Ha-neul is expected to talk about the making of the film and share her thoughts on watching it again years later.
The event is part of a program called "Neighborhood Cinema on the Move" (Chajaganeun Dongne Yeonghwagwan), a free screening series that travels to different areas of Bucheon during the festival. The program is designed to bring films directly to local communities rather than keeping screenings in one central venue.
Now in its 30th year, BIFAN continues to draw film fans from both Korea and abroad with a lineup of genre features and special programs. For longtime fans of "Ditto," the chance to see the film on a big screen with its lead actress in the room offers a rare kind of reunion.
