Director Park Hoon-jung is back with a new film, taking audiences into the shattered world of a killer organization. His latest work, "Tristes Tropiques," opens in Korean theaters on Nov. 25. The first teaser poster and trailer were released this week, giving fans an early look at the gritty action noir.

"Tristes Tropiques" follows the members of a killer organization bearing the same name after the death of their "master," the absolute leader who raised them like brothers. With their mentor gone, suspicion spreads through the group, setting the surviving members plotting revenge against one another.

The film is the latest from Park Hoon-jung, the director behind "New World," "The Witch" and "The Tyrant." His work has earned awards and invitations at overseas film festivals, with critics often praising his intense action and stylish, tightly controlled direction.

Lee Shin-young and Park Yu-rim play two characters at the center of the conflict. Kim Myung-min takes on the role of the master who built the group, while Park Hae-soo also appears as a key figure. Taiwanese actors Austin Lin, Chen Yi-wen and Wang Po-chieh are part of the film's international cast.

The teaser poster shows a hand gripping a gun, its finger poised on the trigger, alongside a figure wearing a strange mask. The image hints at the broken order left behind after the master's death and the growing distrust among his former followers.

The teaser trailer opens with a line of narration: "The master is dead." The camera lingers on the back of the master, played by Kim Myung-min, before cutting to Lu, played by Lee Shin-young, whose expression conveys determination. Jojo, played by Park Yu-rim, glares with open hostility. Jang, played by Park Hae-soo, watches the chaos with cold detachment.

The members once treated each other like family but that bond is cracking. "Everything began to be stained with blood," the trailer declares, as a flurry of gunfights and knife fights plays across the screen. The footage raises a central question: how far will the suspicion over the master's death push these characters, and what kind of revenge is comin?

"Tristes Tropiques" brings together Park Hoon-jung's signature action sequences and his complex character dynamics. The film is positioned as a hardboiled action noir built around betrayal and loyalty inside a world where neither can be trusted.

"Tristes Tropiques" opens in theaters on Nov. 25.
