ZEROBASEONE's Sung Han-bin is stepping up as host of a Mnet original dance series for the second year in a row. The K-pop idol also marked his group's third debut anniversary on the 13th by donating 100 million won to Good Neighbors, a signal of the kind of off-screen presence he has been building.

"Street World Fighter: Director's War" premieres August 18 at 10 p.m. KST on Mnet and tvN, with simultaneous streaming on TVING. The show is the newest chapter in the Mnet dance universe that began with "Street Woman Fighter." Earlier seasons put world-class dancers at the center of the competition. This one turns the spotlight on the performance directors who design and build the stages themselves.

Sung, who previously hosted "World of Street Woman Fighter," returns with a working artist's read on performance and a steady presence on camera. The MC poster shows him standing against prism-like beams of crossing light, framed as the guide who walks viewers through the strategy and creativity playing out on the floor.

In a written interview ahead of the premiere, Sung said it was "such an honor, as someone who loves dance, to take on the MC role once again," adding that he would "work hard and have fun with it so I can be a host who really communicates with viewers." He said he studied his previous season closely to sharpen his delivery. "I carefully monitored my hosting on 'World of Street Woman Fighter' last year, and I researched my tone and pacing so I could bring across the tension of the show and the energy of the floor even better," he said.

He also framed how this season will feel different for fans of the franchise. "In the past, the dopamine came from the dancers' moves and battles, and that's what made it fun for viewers. This time, the directors' sharp ideas and the variety of their stage concepts will be the real thing to watch," he said. "There are some truly incredible pieces coming."

Sung said having a specialist's eye on the process is useful for performers, too. "When someone is watching with a professional perspective, you pick up new angles and ideas as a performer, and it also gives you a sense of reassurance," he said. "I think what matters most is the process of building the best stage together."

He pointed to one segment in particular. "There's a mission in 'Street World Fighter: Director's War' where the directors reinterpret each other's signature choreography, and that gave me a lot of new inspiration," he said. He also said the show deepened his interest in a specific style. "Getting to know contemporary dance better through this season was genuinely fascinating and left a strong impression on me. I even went and looked up the cast members' competition videos on my own."

According to the production team, Sung told staff during filming that his "job satisfaction is honestly at the top," a line that has since made the rounds as a marker of how invested he is in the series. "I'm truly honored to greet everyone again after last year," he said. "I'll do my best to bring the feel of the floor to life so you can enjoy watching. Please show a lot of interest and love for the show and for me."

The Mnet dance survival franchise launched in 2021 with "Street Woman Fighter" and expanded through "Street Man Fighter" and "Stage Fighter." Kang Daniel hosted from "Street Woman Fighter" through 2024's "Stage Fighter," roughly three years on the mic. Sung picked up the baton with last year's "World of Street Woman Fighter" and is now on his second straight season as the face of the series.

That continuity says something about how Mnet is positioning the franchise. Handing the hosting chair from a solo star to a current boy group member connects the dance-competition brand to the active K-pop idol scene, and it gives ZEROBASEONE's Sung a lane outside the group that keeps building even as he approaches the back half of his group's initial run.
