Choi Soo-young Goes Villain in "OK! Madam: Bon Voyage," Opening August 12
The Korean comedy-action sequel "OK! Madam: Bon Voyage" has released its main poster and main trailer, moving its chaos from a hijacked plane to a luxury cruise. The scene of villain Choi Soo-young, who kidnapped the cruise, and main character Uhm Jung-hwa, who is trying to save the cruise, attracts attention. The film, directed by Lee Cheol-ha, opens in South Korean theaters on August 12.
Uhm Jung-hwa returns as Mi-young, a former agent whose family vacation goes sideways. She is joined by Park Sung-woong, Lee Sang-yoon, Bae Jung-nam, Park Jin-joo, Ryeoun and Choi Soo-young, who all get pulled into a hijacking on the open sea.
The main poster lines up all seven stars against a massive cruise ship, each striking a different pose. Familiar faces from the first film share the frame with new additions, teasing how the ensemble will click together. A tagline reads, "This summer, cool it down. OK?"
The trailer opens on Mi-young stepping away from daily life and boarding the ship. Blue water, deck parties and a magic show promise a picture-perfect getaway. That "dream vacation" does not last long. A "wake-up call" arrives in the form of an armed takeover.
Anya, played by Choi Soo-young, leads a large criminal organization that seizes the cruise in minutes. The trailer lingers on her steely turn. Under a red spotlight and gripping a microphone, she snaps, "You are all hostages," her expression cold and sharp. It is a hard pivot from the polished, upbeat image she is known for, and her villain turn shapes up as one of the film's main draws.
As the crisis escalates, Mi-young's real background surfaces. A line about a "legendary killer" hints at her past, and the trailer moves into chase sequences that run across the deck and onto a beach. Along the way, an assortment of unlikely helpers step up to back her, adding the comic beats the series is built on.
"OK! Madam: Bon Voyage" follows the 2020 film "OK! Madam," which set its story on a hijacked plane. The sequel scales up the setting to a luxury cruise, giving the returning cast more room to work with. Uhm Jung-hwa and Park Sung-woong lead the ensemble alongside Lee Sang-yoon, Bae Jung-nam, Park Jin-joo, Ryeoun and Choi Soo-young.
The move from air to sea fits a wider pattern in Korean commercial cinema, where summer tentpoles lean on high-concept action and familiar franchise names to bring audiences back to theaters. For a sequel arriving five years after the original, a bigger stage and a marquee villain turn from an idol-actor are exactly the kind of hooks Korean distributors use to reset a title in the market.
"OK! Madam 2" opens nationwide in South Korea on August 12.
