Singer WOODZ, whose given name is Cho Seung-youn, is stepping into acting. He has joined the cast of the upcoming feature film "Nambeol," directed by Lee Mo-gae. His name has been added to a lineup that already includes Lee Byung-hun, Go Youn-jung, and Lee Do-hyun, marking his first move onto the big screen.

"Nambeol" is a hardboiled martial arts action film set in the early Joseon era. It follows nine warriors of different skills and social classes who travel to Tsushima Island to rescue prisoners taken by Japanese pirates.

Cho plays "Cheotnom," a skilled archer who joins the dangerous mission to support the family he leaves behind in his hometown. The character carries a strong sense of duty and belief, both toward his family and his fellow warriors.

Known for his music and stage performance as WOODZ, Cho takes on his first film role with this project. The move widens his creative range, and both the fresh energy and the emotional depth he could bring to the screen are drawing attention.

"Nambeol" also marks the directorial debut of Lee Mo-gae, a veteran cinematographer whose credits include "12.12: The Day," "Exhuma," "Hunt," "Yadang: The Snitch," and "Emergency Declaration." His work on "12.12: The Day" earned him the Artist Award in the film category at the Baeksang Arts Awards and Best Cinematography at the Blue Dragon Film Awards.

The film is produced by Hive Media Corp, the company behind "12.12: The Day," "Harbin," "Deliver Us From Evil," "The Man Standing Next," "Inside Men," and the Disney+ original series "Made in Korea."

"Nambeol," starring Lee Byung-hun, Go Youn-jung, Lee Do-hyun, and Cho Seung-youn, is currently in pre-production and aims to begin filming in the second half of 2026.
