CORTIS Leader Martin Makes Broadcast Variety Debut on 'Radio Star'
CORTIS leader Martin is set to make his first broadcast variety appearance on MBC's "Radio Star." The episode airs August 5 at 10:30 p.m. KST.
The show's lineup features actors Choi Won-young, Lee Tae-ran, singer Bada, and Martin, under a fashion-and-passion themed special.
CORTIS, the group Martin leads, is a self-producing act whose members are involved across the full creative process, from songwriting and choreography to music videos and styling. Less than a year after debut, the group has already crossed one billion cumulative streams on Spotify. Its first tour, which started in Incheon and runs through North America and Japan, has continued to raise its profile.
Martin appears on the show alone, without the rest of CORTIS, representing the group on the program. He arrives looking nervous but soon shows an honest, unexpected side.
Martin, who says he grew up watching "Radio Star" and other variety programs, shares how it feels to sit alongside senior entertainers and says he has a lot to learn from them. Amid growing love from CORTIS fans for the pairing nicknamed "Um and An," a combination taken from members Um Seong-hyeon and An Keon-ho's surnames known for their visuals and chemistry, Martin says he wants to become fans' favorite.
He also shares the backstory behind "Young CC," a phrase the members coined. Martin explains that at the time of debut, the group introduced themselves as a "Young Creator Crew" to reflect the idea of members building culture and creating together. He adds that the members later developed "Young CC" into a song and a piece of content, offering a look inside CORTIS' own production process.
"Radio Star" airs August 5 at 10:30 p.m. KST.
