Stray Kids' Changbin Donates $70,000 on His Birthday
K-pop group Stray Kids member Changbin marked his birthday with a 100 million won donation to a Seoul hospital. The gift will go toward treating young patients and supporting their families.
Changbin delivered the donation to Samsung Medical Center on August 11, his birthday. Half of the 100 million won, roughly 50 million won, will cover medical costs for pediatric and adolescent patients. The other half will fund emotional support programs for patients' families.
"Thanks to the huge love my fans have sent me, I was able to celebrate my birthday by giving back in a meaningful way," Changbin said. "I truly hope my heart reaches the places that need help, and offers even a small bit of hope and warm comfort."
This is not Changbin's first donation. In 2023, he sent emergency relief funds to the international aid group The Promise to support recovery from the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. He later joined the organization's "Honors Club" for major donors. He also gave to Samsung Medical Center on his birthday last year.
That same year, Changbin joined his Stray Kids bandmates in supporting disaster relief efforts. The group donated to Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association and World Vision Korea to help communities hit by wildfires in the Gyeongsang region. They also gave to World Vision Hong Kong for recovery from a fire in Hong Kong.
Stray Kids is currently promoting its new mini album "THIS & THAT," released on Aug. 7th. The group will perform at Japan National Stadium in Tokyo on Aug. 29 and 30 as part of its new world tour, "RUN IT." It is the first time a foreign male artist has held a solo concert at the venue.
