Singer Soyou, formerly of K-pop girl group SISTAR, is opening up about how her views on marriage and having children have changed.

On August 15, Soyou shared her honest thoughts on marriage, motherhood and dating through her YouTube channel "SOYOUGI." She said her current outlook has moved closer to staying single for life.

"In my early 20s, my ultimate goal was to become a mom," Soyou said. "When I turned 30, I thought I should get my body really healthy and freeze my eggs." She gave up on the idea after learning she would need to give herself injections in the stomach every day.

Soyou said turning 30 during the COVID-19 pandemic also shaped her thinking. "I wasn't dating at the time, and when COVID hit, I kept seeing babies who had to wear masks every time they went outside," she said. "It felt so sad."

She said the thought of raising a child started to feel overwhelming, and her wish to have one faded. Around age 32, her stance shifted further. "If I'm not going to have a child, I don't want to get married either," she said, describing a view close to choosing single life for good.
