Sunmi's China Fan Meeting Canceled Just Four Days Before Event

Singer Sunmi's fan meeting in Shanghai has been canceled four days before it was scheduled to take place.

Her agency, Abyss Company, announced the cancellation through its official social media channels on Sept. 1. The "2026 SUNMI Shanghai Fan Meeting <Meet SUNMI in Late Summer>" had been scheduled for Sept. 5 in Shanghai.

The agency said a final review of local operations and preparations found that it could not guarantee the operational stability and production quality required for the event.

"We concluded that it was important to provide an environment where both the artist and fans could feel at ease and to deliver an event that meets the standard we originally promised," the agency said. "After discussions with the local organizer, we have decided to cancel the Shanghai fan meeting."

Abyss Company also apologized to fans for the sudden announcement. "We are truly sorry to deliver such sudden news to fans who have waited for and supported this fan meeting," it said.

The agency added that Sunmi had been preparing to reunite with fans in Shanghai after a long absence and was disappointed that the meeting could not take place.

Tickets will be fully refunded through the local organizer and official ticketing partners. Further details about the refund process and schedule will be announced separately through the relevant official channels.
