2NE1's Sandara Park Goes After Online Trolls
K-pop group 2NE1's Sandara Park is taking legal action against online trolls. Her agency, ARADNAS, said it has gathered evidence of malicious posts targeting the singer and is moving forward with both criminal and civil proceedings.
In an official statement on Sept. 6, ARADNAS said it had "secured a substantial body of evidence" related to malicious posts and other violations of Sandara Park's rights. The agency said its legal team is currently pursuing criminal charges and civil claims for damages.
The company said it will use every legal tool available to identify those behind anonymous accounts that repeatedly spread false information or post insulting content. The policy applies to both domestic and overseas platforms.
Deleting posts or shutting down accounts will not stop the proceedings. ARADNAS said it will continue taking action based on the evidence it has already secured. The agency added that it will respond with "zero tolerance" to all violations, whether previously reported or discovered later, with no leniency, settlement, or withdrawal of legal action.
"Actions that violate an artist's dignity and rights must carry consequences," the agency said. "We will see the necessary legal steps through to the end."
Sandara Park debuted as a member of 2NE1 in 2009, releasing hits including "Fire" and "I Am the Best."
She launched her independent label ARADNAS in June and released the single album "rePRISM" on June 20. Her activities under the label have centered on festival appearances, fan concerts, and an Asia fan-con tour.
