Suzy, Lee Jin-wook Team Up for December Romance 'Seven O'Clock Breakfast Club for the Brokenhearted'
Actress and singer Suzy is returning to the big screen with a quiet story about heartbreak. Her new film "Seven O'Clock Breakfast Club for the Brokenhearted," directed by Lim Sun-ae, is set to open in Korean theaters this December. The production unveiled its poster and launch trailer alongside the release announcement.
The film follows Sa-gang, a flight attendant played by Suzy, and Ji-hoon, a consultant played by Lee Jin-wook. The two meet at a support group called the Seven O'Clock Breakfast Club, a gathering for people trying to move on from heartbreak. When their "breakup keepsakes" get switched by accident, they set out together to find the rightful owners.
The poster carries the line "It's over, but I want to end it," with both leads pictured side by side. Sa-gang looks straight ahead, her eyes still holding the weight of a recent goodbye. Ji-hoon gazes off to the side with a lonely expression. The image leaves viewers wondering what each of them has just walked away from.
The trailer opens with a soft voice-over from Sa-gang. She struggles to move forward even after love has ended. Ji-hoon's story follows, sketching a man who has left behind the happy days he once shared with someone.
Both characters carry their wounds into the breakfast club. Sitting among strangers, Sa-gang and Ji-hoon become tangled in each other's lives through the mixed-up keepsakes. The trailer closes on a shot of the two of them in tears.
The film is based on the 2012 novel of the same name by author Baek Young-ok. In the book, people carrying their own breakups gather at the breakfast club, trade keepsakes from past relationships, and slowly help one another through the loss. The story sits in the space between the end of one love and the start of something new.
Suzy plays Sa-gang, the flight attendant who cannot easily shake off the pain of her breakup. Lee Jin-wook takes on Ji-hoon, a consultant whose loss has not faded. Yoo Ji-tae and Keum Sae-rok also appear in supporting roles. Director Lim Sun-ae, known for the films "An Old Lady" (69se) and "Ms. Apocalypse" (Segimalui Sarang), directs the project.
"Seven O'Clock Breakfast Club for the Brokenhearted" opens in Korean theaters this December.
