BLACKPINK's ROSÉ is returning with a surprise solo release, with her music video being filmed entirely on Apple's iPhone 18 Pro.

ROSÉ will release her new single "New Trick" on September 17, with its accompanying music video shot entirely on Apple's newly unveiled iPhone 18 Pro. The project forms part of Apple's long-running "Shot on iPhone" campaign and was directed by Dave Meyers, the director behind music videos for artists including Ariana Grande, Harry Styles, SZA and BLACKPINK.

Apple and ROSÉ revealed the collaboration shortly after the iPhone 18 Pro was officially introduced on September 9. A short teaser shows ROSÉ holding a purple lollipop carrying the "New Trick" branding before revealing that the video was "Shot on iPhone 18 Pro."

The collaboration places ROSÉ alongside a growing list of major pop stars Apple has recruited to demonstrate the filmmaking capabilities of its smartphones. Lady Gaga's "Stupid Love," Olivia Rodrigo's "Get Him Back!" and The Weeknd's "Dancing in the Flames" were also filmed using iPhones as part of previous campaigns.

For ROSÉ, however, the project is more than simply an advertisement for Apple's latest device. "New Trick" is a complete standalone single and her first new solo song following her debut studio album "rosie," released in December 2024.

Speaking to Vogue, ROSÉ revealed that the song came together unusually quickly. She wrote it with frequent collaborator Amy Allen approximately two days after attending the Met Gala in New York earlier this year, during a period when she found herself moving away from the emotionally heavy songwriting that dominated "rosie."

ROSÉ described "New Trick" as one of the least sad and potentially "cutest" songs the pair have created together. The shift can already be heard in the brief preview, which introduces a brighter, energetic pop-rock sound accompanied by the repeated phrase, "New trick, watch this."

The sound also has an unexpected connection to the Apple collaboration itself. ROSÉ told Vogue that the track reminded her of the pop-rock songs frequently used in Apple advertisements during the 2000s, making the partnership a particularly natural fit.

Despite arriving almost two years after "rosie," however, "New Trick" will not officially begin the rollout for ROSÉ's next album.

Her currently untitled second solo album is expected in 2027, with its first official single still to come. ROSÉ said she has already been working on new music but remains in the process of determining the sound and world she wants to build around her next era.

Meanwhile, ROSÉ'S "New Trick" music video will arrive alongside the song on September 17.
