Bright yellow ice cream cakes are taking over Korean social media, and the reason is hard to miss.

Baskin-Robbins Korea has teamed up with Japan’s iconic Tokyo Banana once again, this time turning its popular Brûlée Tart into a colorful ice cream cake topped with a tiny banana-shaped Tokyo Banana.

The result, “Tokyo Banana Crunchy Brûlée,” is a September seasonal release that is already catching shoppers’ attention.

At a Baskin-Robbins store in central Seoul, the yellow cake takes center stage in the display case. A staff member said at least one cake sells each day, with some customers asking about its availability before anything else.

Under a layer of brûlée chocolate, the cake combines four flavors: vanilla brûlée, cookies and cream, banana, and banana crème brûlée.

The standout was the banana crème brûlée, which balances sweet and salty notes with a soft texture. Small brûlée pieces add a satisfying crunch, while soft bread cubes mixed into the ice cream keep each bite interesting.

There is one catch, the word “Crunchy” might make you expect the satisfying crack of a real crème brûlée sugar shell. Instead, the topping is closer to a thick chocolate layer. It does not shatter in quite the same way, and the chocolate flavor lingers more than caramelized sugar.

Still, the cake delivers on its biggest strengths: four familiar flavors, multiple textures and a seriously photogenic design.

This is Baskin-Robbins Korea’s third collaboration with Tokyo Banana, following Ice Tokyo Banana in 2024 and Ice Choco Tokyo Banana in 2025. Tokyo Banana has long been a popular souvenir for Korean travelers returning from Japan, making the collaboration instantly recognizable to local shoppers.

Baskin-Robbins went beyond simply recreating the original dessert. Instead, the brand used its Brûlée Tart as the inspiration, combining banana, brûlée and ice cream into something that feels familiar but different enough to try.

The “crunch” may not be exactly what the name promises, but if you’re craving a little taste of Japan without booking a flight, this bright yellow cake might do the trick
