BOYNEXTDOOR Closes In on KATSEYE, Hits No. 2 on K-POPIT BOARD After Comeback

K-POP boy group BOYNEXTDOOR has climbed to No. 2 on K-POPIT BOARD's global ranking following its comeback. KATSEYE has held the top spot since its "SNL" appearance, while BOYNEXTDOOR is closing in on the top spot with its new song, "ANIMAL."

According to K-POPIT BOARD data released Sept. 29, BOYNEXTDOOR ranked second globally with a PWR(GL) score of 62. The ranking follows the release of "ANIMAL" a day earlier.

BOYNEXTDOOR released the music video for "ANIMAL" through the HYBE LABELS YouTube channel at 6 p.m. KST on Sept. 28. The title track from the repackaged edition of its first studio album, "HOME: DELUXE," is an electro-funk song about pushing past one's limits toward a better tomorrow. In the video, the six members move freely like animals following their instincts.

Members Myung Jaehyun, Taesan and Woonhak took part in creating the song, while ZICO contributed to its lyrics and composition.

Before the release, the group built interest in the "ANIMAL" concept through a mock documentary featuring the members as people who believe they are animals. A fictional clinical trial ad and a "find your inner animal" questionnaire invited fans to take part.

That interest appears to have carried over into streaming. BOYNEXTDOOR scored 100 globally on VCR, a metric that measures how strongly buzz translates into actual streams. The group ranked fifth overall domestically, but its domestic VCR also reached 100, indicating that interest generated around the comeback has translated into music listening in both markets.

BOYNEXTDOOR's FHI score, which reflects fandom activity and sustainability, stood at 89 both domestically and globally. The matching scores suggest that the group's fan response extends beyond its higher global ranking.

BOYNEXTDOOR plans to promote the release through radio appearances, YouTube variety shows and music programs. On Oct. 19, the group will hold "BOYNEXTDOOR 'HOME Party'" at Woori WON Banking Hall in Blue Square, Seoul, to meet fans.
