ILLIT Is Getting a Little Irritated in First "BREAK EVEN" Song Previews

ILLIT is finding plenty of reasons to get annoyed in the first full preview of "BREAK EVEN."

The group released a teasing video for its fifth mini album on October 5, offering the first snippets of its new songs through a series of increasingly chaotic everyday situations.

The video begins with the warning that "irritation comes faster than you think," before introducing the title track "You're Under Arrest."

An electro-pop track built around a bright whistle motif and high-energy production, the song accompanies ILLIT as the members dance while being confronted by monitors holding a "TOO LOUD" sign.

Rather than quieting down, the members continue running around and blowing whistles, turning the noise complaint into another part of the performance.

The mood shifts with "Super in Love," an indie dance track pairing a softer beat with a dreamier atmosphere. Minju wanders around her room while talking excitedly on the phone, only to discover after hanging up that its heart-shaped cord has become tangled across the entire space.

"Pop" moves into baile funk territory with an unpredictable melody, groovier rhythm and a repeated "Pop Pop" refrain. Its accompanying scene finds Yunah and Wonhee carefully building a tower of pancakes before watching the entire stack collapse. The silence that follows is interrupted by the song's "Pop Pop" sound, timed almost like a hiccup.

Iroha gets considerably less patient during "More." The speed garage track pairs a dynamic rhythm and rougher sound with the direct refrain "More More More More" and "angry, angry, angry, angry."

In the video, Iroha plays blindfolded hide-and-seek with the other members before realizing they have secretly abandoned the game, prompting her to rip off the blindfold in frustration.

Together, the previews extend the emotional direction already introduced through ILLIT's "BURNING" concept films, where frustration and anger are filtered through the group's playful visual language.

Before "BREAK EVEN" arrives, ILLIT will hold 'ILLIT LIVE 'PRESS START♥︎' ENCORE in KOREA' at Inspire Arena on October 17 and 18, where a special stage has also been teased.

ILLIT will release "BREAK EVEN" on October 26.
