ILLIT's Darker Turn Pays Off Early, Tops K-POPIT BOARD's Global Chart

ILLIT has climbed to the top of K-POPIT BOARD's global rising chart as interest builds around the group's upcoming comeback.

According to K-POPIT BOARD, the K-POP analytics index, ILLIT ranked No. 1 on the Oct. 7 Global Rise chart with a Power Index (PWR_GL) score of 66.5. The group also ranked No. 3 on the Domestic Rise chart with a Power Index (PWR_KR) score of 67.3.

The rise comes as ILLIT steps up promotions for its fifth mini album, "BREAK EVEN," due out Oct. 26. The group has been releasing concept films and photos in recent days, with its newly unveiled "BURNING" version drawing attention for a darker turn from its previous releases.

The concept captures the members reaching their limit after realizing how much emotion they have poured into a one-sided relationship. The cold expressions and darker imagery are a departure from ILLIT's brighter image, while quirky props and details keep some of the group's familiar character intact.

Interest in the new look has coincided with strong engagement around the group. ILLIT recorded a Media Attention Score (MAS) of 78.6, while its Fandom Health Index (FHI) reached 92.5. Its Viral Conversion Rate (VCR), which measures how YouTube interest translates into Spotify streaming, stood at 93.7.

The album itself is also gaining traction ahead of its release. "BREAK EVEN" rose to No. 3 on Spotify's Pre-Save Top 10 on Oct. 2, surpassing 200,000 pre-saves just eight days after pre-saves opened. The early response lines up with ILLIT's No. 1 position on K-POPIT BOARD's Global Rise chart more than two weeks before the comeback.

"BREAK EVEN" centers on reaching a breaking point in a relationship that has become one-sided. Taking its name from the financial term for neither making a profit nor taking a loss, the album sees ILLIT decide that someone who does not return their effort is no longer worth their time or emotion.

ILLIT will continue rolling out teaser content ahead of the album's Oct. 26 release. The group will also hold "ILLIT LIVE 'PRESS START♥' ENCORE in KOREA" at Inspire Arena in Incheon on Oct. 17 and 18.
