i-dle's Shuhua Walks Red Carpet for First Lead Role in 'Happily Ever After
i-dle's Shuhua has brought her first lead film role to Busan. The singer attended the 31st Busan International Film Festival after her movie "Happily Ever After" was invited to the festival's "A Window on Asian Cinema" section. The festival opened on the 6th.
Shuhua took part in the opening ceremony on the 6th and worked through a full schedule the next day, including an outdoor stage greeting, an official press conference, and a GV (guest visit) session with audiences.
She walked the opening red carpet in a pink dress, waving to fans who had gathered at the venue. The following afternoon, she joined director Fiona Roan and co-stars Chen Shan and Tsai Fan-hsi on stage at the Roof Theater at the Busan Cinema Center. Shuhua greeted her overseas castmates in Korean to warm up the room.
"I was really nervous at first, but it turned into more excitement than nerves," Shuhua said at the official press conference. "It's an honor to come to a film festival this big with my first lead role. I'm curious how audiences will react."
On her character, she said, "Kitty is similar to me in that she's brave. She's a character who thinks about what happiness is and goes looking for it with hope."
Meeting fans at the GV, she added, "It feels so surreal. I hope that while watching, people can forget for a moment that I'm Shuhua and really see Kitty. I'll keep working harder."
"Happily Ever After," Shuhua's film debut, follows two sisters with opposite personalities whose daily life starts to crack after they take in a stray cat by chance. Shuhua plays Kitty, the cheerful youngest in the family. In its program notes, the Busan International Film Festival said her performance "signals the arrival of a new actor."
The film held its world premiere at the 51st Toronto International Film Festival and was also selected for the "World Focus" section at the 39th Tokyo International Film Festival.
