MAMAMOO's Wheein Breaks Down in Tears While Missing Group's Peak Years
MAMAMOO's Wheein has drawn attention after tearfully admitting that she misses the group's busiest years, even though she once struggled with the pressure of their demanding schedule.
Clips from an Aug. 31 Weverse livestream have recently circulated online, showing Wheein reflecting on her years with MAMAMOO.
"When I'm on tour, I get really emotional," she said. "I often think about how much I want to go back to when MAMAMOO was at its peak."
She admitted that the group's packed schedule had sometimes been overwhelming. "There were times when I really hated it because it was so hard," she said, adding that she had been too busy to appreciate those moments while living through them.
Wheein also shared that she sometimes watches old MAMAMOO videos while drinking alone. "I guess that's my drinking habit. Sometimes I watch them and cry by myself," she said. As she wiped away tears, she laughed and joked that people might think MAMAMOO had disbanded.
She recalled telling comedian Kim Shin Young that she wanted to quit during one particularly difficult period. Kim told her that a day would come when she would miss those times. Wheein said she did not understand the advice back then but now knows exactly what Kim meant.
The clips sparked mixed reactions online. Some viewers related to her feelings about burnout and nostalgia, while others questioned why she missed those days after choosing not to renew her contract with RBW in 2021.
MAMAMOO reunited in June with the special single "4WARD," their first full-group release in nearly four years. The group is currently touring and will wrap up its world tour in Taipei on Nov. 28 and 29.
