Doojoon (두준)

Yoon Doo-joon has built one of the more durable careers in fourth-generation idol history by moving fluidly between music and television without losing ground in either. Best known as the leader of HIGHLIGHT — the group that reformed from BEAST (B2ST) after a label dispute with Cube Entertainment — he has remained a consistent presence in Korean entertainment since his debut, latterly expanding into variety hosting and true-crime programming that has introduced him to audiences well beyond the K-pop sphere.

Debut & Formation

Doojoon first came to public attention as a member of B2ST (BEAST), the boy group that debuted under Cube Entertainment and became one of the more commercially significant idol acts of the early 2010s. When the group's relationship with Cube broke down, five of its members — Doojoon among them — established Around Us Entertainment and relaunched under the name HIGHLIGHT in 2017, retaining both their fanbase and their creative direction. The transition marked a rare instance of an idol group successfully reconstituting itself as an independent artist-run operation, and Doojoon, as the group's leader, was central to navigating that shift.

Activities

Beyond his work with HIGHLIGHT, Doojoon has developed a parallel career as a television personality and actor. He is a multi-hyphenate in the precise sense — his listed occupations span singing, acting across film and television, and beatboxing — and his broadcast presence has grown substantially in recent years.

In 2026, he joined the fifth season of Brave Detectives, a true-crime variety programme, as one of its new MCs alongside Kwak Sun-young, filling a vacancy created when actor Lee Yi-kyung stepped down amid personal controversy. His selection was notably competitive: reports at the time indicated he was chosen from a field with an effective competition rate of 152 to 1. On set, he quickly established a rapport with the existing cast, and his addition was received as a tonal asset to the show's ensemble.

Separately, Doojoon has cultivated a public identity as a credible football commentator. During the 2022 Qatar World Cup he drew significant attention for his coverage work, and in June 2026 he was tapped to host a live commentary broadcast for South Korea's match against the Czech Republic at the 2026 North America World Cup — a role that speaks to the breadth of his public profile outside music.
