Krystal (크리스탈)

Known to international audiences by her stage name Krystal, Jung Soo-jung built her public profile as the youngest member and visual of SM Entertainment's girl group f(x) before expanding into a sustained career as an actress. Korean-American by background and born in October 1994, she has moved steadily from the group setting that first defined her to solo screen work that now commands its own attention.

Debut & Formation

Krystal debuted with f(x) under SM Entertainment and served the group as lead vocalist, visual, and maknae — the youngest member — through to 2019. The group occupied a distinct space in the SM roster, known for an art-pop sensibility that set it apart from the label's more mainstream acts, and Krystal's presence as its face gave her early visibility that extended well beyond the group's fanbase.

Activities

Since her years with f(x) concluded, Krystal has concentrated primarily on acting. Her most recent screen role is in the suspense drama How to Become a Landlord in Korea, in which she plays Jeon Yi-kyung alongside Ha Jung-woo and Im Soo-jung. The character navigates a marriage unraveling through secrets and betrayal — her husband orchestrates a fake kidnapping and conceals an affair — and Krystal's storyline grows in complexity as Jeon Yi-kyung moves from suspicion to active investigation and eventually a pregnancy announcement that deepens the drama's tensions. The role places her within a high-profile cast and signals a continued commitment to character-driven television work.

Beyond the screen, she has maintained a presence in fashion, most recently representing Ralph Lauren at its Collection presentation in New York, an appearance that drew notice for her off-duty styling and underlined the modelling strand of a career that has always run parallel to her music and acting work.

In April 2026, she returned to the variety format with an appearance on *Running Man* — her first in twelve years — where she spoke candidly about her history with the program and her personal life, reconnecting with a broader general-entertainment audience outside her drama work.
