Minhyuk (민혁)

Kang Min-hyuk occupies an uncommon position in the South Korean entertainment landscape: a working musician who has sustained parallel careers as a drummer, television actor, and published writer across more than sixteen years in the industry. Known by his stage name Minhyuk, he is best recognized as a member of FNC Entertainment's pop-rock group CNBLUE, a band whose self-produced sound helped define a strand of Korean rock music in the early 2010s.

Formation and Career with CNBLUE

Minhyuk joined CNBLUE as its drummer, contributing to a group that built its reputation on live instrumentation at a time when idol acts were largely defined by choreography and production-line songwriting. His role in the band extended beyond performance; he has worked as a lyricist and songwriter, adding a compositional dimension to his profile within the group. CNBLUE has remained active on the international stage, with Minhyuk appearing on radio programs in early 2026 amid what was described as a busy world tour schedule — an indication that the group's touring activity has continued well into the mid-2020s.

Activities Beyond the Band

Alongside his work with CNBLUE, Minhyuk built a separate profile as a television and film actor, taking on roles that kept him visible during periods between the group's musical releases. That versatility has been a consistent feature of his public presence rather than a detour from music.

Perhaps less expected is his identity as a published author. His essay collection, released under the title *It's Not All Like That*, drew a readership drawn to what was described as a warm perspective and candid writing. Four years after its initial publication, a revised and expanded edition was announced in April 2026, adding ten new stories and photographs taken by Minhyuk himself — the latter detail underscoring a creative range that extends into visual work. The collection's longevity, and the decision to expand rather than simply reprint it, suggests it found an audience beyond the immediate fanbase.

Public Persona

A February 2026 appearance on the radio program *Lee In-kwon's FunFun Today* offered a snapshot of how Minhyuk presents himself publicly: self-deprecating when asked about being called the most handsome drummer in Korea, and described by coverage as showcasing wit and charm. The appearance, made out of loyalty to the program despite a crowded touring schedule, reinforced a reputation for accessibility that has followed him throughout his career.
