Minji (민지)

Kim Minji is best known as a member of NewJeans, the ADOR-signed group that became one of the most closely watched acts in fourth-generation K-pop. As of mid-2026, her status within the group remains unresolved — three of her fellow members have returned to activity under ADOR, while Minji's own situation continues to be negotiated, a prolonged uncertainty that has drawn significant attention from fans and industry observers alike.

Group affiliations

Beyond NewJeans, Minji's involvement in music extends across several projects. She has been a vocalist and guitarist in Bosudong Cooler, and holds current membership in both OLO and Sweety. Earlier in her career she was part of Cheer Coke, where she served as main rapper, and Dream Girls, both of which are no longer active engagements.

A career in flux

Seven months after Hanni, Haerin, and Hyein signaled their return to ADOR, Minji's path forward had yet to be formally confirmed. By May 2026, reports indicated that discussions between Minji and the agency had turned positive, with a four-member comeback considered increasingly likely. ADOR confirmed publicly that internal conversations were ongoing following members' stated intention to resume activities.

In the midst of that uncertainty, Minji made a point of connecting directly with her fanbase. Around her birthday in May 2026, she visited a fan-organized birthday cafe, distributing handwritten letters and cookies and telling those present that she had "a truckload of things I want to say" — an acknowledgment, measured but candid, of the extended period of public silence.

Profile and presence

Minji's public profile has extended to modeling alongside her music work, and her visual recognition has become a cultural reference point in South Korea in its own right — multiple broadcast segments in 2025 and 2026 drew attention to individuals described as resembling her, a marker of the kind of mainstream visibility that few artists achieve outside their immediate fanbase.
