Kim Ye Rim, known professionally as Yeri, joined Red Velvet as its fifth and youngest member in March 2015, more than six months after the group's initial four-member debut. That mid-cycle addition — unusual even by SM Entertainment's standards — immediately distinguished her trajectory within one of the label's most commercially consistent acts.
Debut & Formation
Yeri had been active as a member of SM Rookies, SM Entertainment's pre-debut training and showcase program, before her addition to Red Velvet was announced and she joined the group during promotions for "Ice Cream Cake." Taking on the roles of sub vocalist, sub rapper, and maknae — the group's youngest — she became a fixture in Red Velvet's expanding lineup through the years that followed.
Music & Activities
Beyond her work with Red Velvet, Yeri has pursued acting alongside her musical career, extending her presence beyond the stage. Her solo discography includes "Dear Diary," a work that reflects a more personal, introspective register than her group output. She remains signed to SM Entertainment and continues to be active under both the group and individual banners.
