Weverse Park Day 2026: The Rising Performers Who Defined festival
Despite featuring a lineup largely made up of rookies and emerging artists, the opening half of Weverse Park Festival demonstrated why several of its performers have quickly become names to watch out on the festival circuit.
Held on June 7 as part of the fifth annual WEVERSECON Festival, Weverse Park Day transformed the 88 Lawn Yard at Seoul Olympic park into an outdoor music space ahead of the evening's Park Night performances and WEVERSECON performances at the nearby KSPO DOME. This year's NEWTOPIA theme aimed at creating a festival-like escape within the busy and bustling city, it was complete with food vendors, photo zones and an open lawn seating and standing setting for attendees to enjoy.
This year's lineup reflected the spirit of variety as it had everything from J-pop and K-pop rookies, to rock bands and singer-songwriters. The festival was able to offer everyone a chance to experience a wide range of genres throughout the afternoon.
Japanese rookie girl-group CUTIE STREET opened the day. Dressed in coordinated pastel dresses that immediately matched their bright concept, the group brough an infectious energy to the stage despite the cloudy weather. Their short 15 minute set served as an effective introduction to both the festival and the group itself as their cheerful stage presence quickly won over the crowds. Their performance was energetic and it was even surprising to see various serious fans at the front row, giving it their all for the group.
Fellow Japanese rookie act, aoen, followed shortly after. All seven members made an effort to communicate with fans in Korean, Japanese, and English throughout their ment segments, creating a welcoming atmosphere for the diverse attending audience. While their performance maintained the youthful energy already established previously by CUTIE STREET, aoen showcased a broader range of styles, especially through their closing medley that highlighted different songs and choreographies. This offered festival-attendees a glimpse at the group's bright versatility.
The afternoon slowly shifted towards K-pop as ASTRO member and maknae Yoon San-ha took the stage for his solo set. Although he only officially debuted as a soloist in 2024, San-ha performed with the confidence that is backed by a decade of experience on the stage. Throughout his 30-minute set, he effortlessly engaged both fans gathered near the stage and those seated back across the lawn. Performances of his tracks such as "6PM," "IDK ME" and "demo" highlighted both his vocal abilities and stage presence, leaving a strong impression even on audience members who might be unfamiliar with his solo work.
As the park grounds continued to fill ahead of the day's headlining performance, co-ed rock band TOUCHED delivered one of the most energetic sets of the afternoon. Formed in 2021 by members who met while studying at the Seoul Institute of the Arts, the band has built a steady reputation within Korea’s rock and indie scene for its powerful live performances.
The band's reputation and popularity were on full display during songs such as "Highlight!" and "Stand Up!," which had audience members dancing, jumping and singing along throughout the lawn area. By the end of their set, TOUCHED had successfully transformed the relaxed festival atmosphere into something far more explosive which even left festival-goers asking for an encore. This further reinforced the group's recent popularity at outdoor music events.
Lastly, singer-songwriter Kwon Jin-Ah closed out the first half of Weverse Park Day by being the headline act. While her set appeared to begin before some attendees had returned from grabbing refreshments, leaving parts of the standing section looking somewhat sparse, Jin-Ah quickly commanded the stage with her presence.
As she opened with "Silly Love," the singer effortlessly showcased her strong vocal range which included several whistle notes that drew large applause from the audience. In contrast to the previous high-energy performances, Jin-Ah brought a calmer and more relaxed atmosphere to the park. Audience members seated across the lawn and stood, swayed along to her performance which created a fitting soundtrack for the late-afternoon setting.
The weather also seemed to work in Kwon Jin-Ah's favor as the mild temperatures and overcast skies complemented the laid-back mood of her set. This allowed festivalgoers to settle in and enjoy her music. Throughout her 60-minute performance, Jin-Ah continued to showcase her signature blend of pop, jazz and R&B influences through songs which included "White Wine," "Love Me Love Me," and the closing track "I Got Lucky (운이 좋았지)."
As each artist brought a different strength to the stage, Weverse Park Day's first half succeeded because of its variety. CUTIE STREET and aoen showcased the promise of a new generation within the K-pop and J-pop space while acts like Yoon San-ha demonstrated the confidence of an experienced performer who is growing into their solo identity. Furthermore, TOUCHED delivered the type of high-energy live set that festivals thrive on, while Kwon Jin-ah provided a more relaxed and intimate atmosphere through her warm vocals and genre-blending sound.
Together, the lineup offered a reminder that some of the most memorable festival moments often come from artists who are still in the process of establishing themselves, while also giving audiences the opportunity to discover their next favorite act.
